Abstract

The study of organization citizenship behaviour (OCB) is current in Malaysia especially among teachers. Since the importance of OCB has been proved in increasing the individual’s productivity and performance. Meanwhile, personality plays important roles in influencing OCB. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the influence of personality on OCB among teachers. The data for this quantitative study was collected through the questionnaire distributed among 287 SBT and regular daily primary schools’ teachers around Putrajaya. Big Five Inventory by John & Srivastava (1999) was used to measure the five factor personality and measurement of Organization Citizenship Behaviour scale by Podsakoff et al. (1990) to measure OCB were used in this studies. The data was analysed by using multiple regression in the Statistical Package for Social Science. This study found that neuroticism, agreeableness and openness influence OCB on teachers in general. The impact of this studies will help MOE to identify the traits of personality of teachers’ candidate that suits OCB needed in recruitment and placement. MOE also can create self-awareness intervention module in maintaining and increasing OCB among teachers. Future research needs to be specifically reinforcing the studies of personality as a predictor for OCB so that teachers' work performance is always at a high level.
