Abstract
Analisis Aplikasi Pendekatan Tafsīr Bi Al-Ma’thūr Di Dalam Majalah Dabiq Terbitan Kumpulan ISIS - Tinjauan Awal
An Analysis of the Tafsīr Bil Ma'thūr Approach in Dabiq Magazine
Published by ISIS - A Preliminary Review
Tafsīr Bi al-Ma’thūr is the primary tafsīr method in the field of tafsīr (Quranic exegesis). Dabiq magazine, a publication of Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS), has been found to contain narratives on violence with support from Quranic verses. This study seeks to preliminarily analyse the application of Tafsīr Bi al-Ma’thūr to the Quranic verses cited in the magazine. This qualitative study employed the content analysis method. The results of the analysis evinced that Tafsīr Bi al-Ma’thūr was applied by ISIS in their magazine. However, the contextual interpretations of those verses to justify hijrah, jihad, bloodshed, and the establishment of the Khilafah (Caliphate) have demonstrated that using the Tafsīr Bi al-Ma’thūr approach alone is insufficient to prevent contextual misinterpretation. Thus, the researcher suggests future studies to compare the current analysis on Dabiq magazine with other selected works that utilise the Tafsīr Bil Ma’thūr method. The purpose of such studies would be to explore the continuity of the Tafsīr Bil Ma’thūr tradition in Dabiq magazine whether its application entirely conforms with existing Tafsīr Bil Ma’thūr works or only in one aspect to justify the ISIS ideology.
