TAHAP PENGUASAAN KEMAHIRAN BERTUTUR BAHASA MELAYU DALAM KALANGAN MURID BUKAN PENUTUR NATIF (The Level of Proficiency of Malay Speaking Skills among Non-Native Students)

Abstract


Abstrak: Penguasaan berbahasa kebangsaan perlu untuk meningkatkan ilmu, kemahiran dan kompetensi seseorang murid. Kajian lepas mendapati murid bukan Melayu di Malaysia tidak cekap berbahasa Melayu. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti tahap profesiensi kemahiran bertutur dalam kalangan murid bukan penutur natif. Seramai 414 orang sampel kajian daripada 5 buah sekolah SJKC dan SJKT di Daerah Kuantan telah dipilih. Analisis kajian menggunakan Ujian Bertutur UPBM_SR dan borang soal selidik. Data diproses menggunakan IBMSPSS Versi 23 dengan reka bentuk tinjauan hirisan rentas. Keputusan menunjukkan majoriti murid mendapat Tahap 4 dan sebanyak 55.7% masih tidak fasih dalam kemahiran bertutur. Secara keseluruhan analisis menunjukkan tahap kemahiran bertutur murid di SJK Daerah Kuantan adalah tahap sederhana. Usaha untuk melahirkan murid yang profesien bertutur dalam bahasa Melayu perlu dipergiat. Murid bukan Melayu wajib mempraktikkan penggunaan bahasa Melayu dalam kehidupan secara berterusan untuk melahirkan warganegara Malaysia yang berketrampilan dalam berbahasa.

Abstract: National language proficiency is required to improve the knowledge, skills and competency of a student. The previous study found that non-Malay students in Malaysia were incompetent in Malay. This study was carried out to identify the level of proficiency of speaking skills among non-native speakers. A total of 414 samples from 5 SJKC and SJKT schools in Kuantan District were selected. Analytical study was conducted using UPBM_SR Speaking Test and questionnaire. Data is processed using IBMSPSS Version 23 with cross-sectional survey design. The result shows the majority of students get Level 4 and as many as 55.7% are still not fluent in speaking skills. Overall, the analysis shows that the level of students’ speaking proficiency in SJK Daerah Kuantan is on a moderate level. The initiative to produce students who speak proficiently in Malay need to be intensified. Non-Malay students are required to practice the use of Malay language continuously in life to produce Malaysians who are fluent in speaking.
