Author Guidelines
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
These guidelines are prepared for assisting authors in preparing papers for publication in the Journal of Polymer Science and Technology.
SCOPE
Journal of Polymer Science and Technology is a refereed journal committed to the advancement of scholarly knowledge and research findings of all branches of polymer sciences and technologies. This journal publishes articles and reviews, whose content and approach are of interest to a wide range of scholars. Journal of Polymer Science and Technology is published in two issues a year by the Polymer Research Centre, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
The journal publishes manuscripts written in the English or Malay language. Manuscript submitted to the journal for publication should be original contribution and has not been previously published or is under consideration simultaneously by any other publication. The manuscript should be typed using Times New Roman, single column and 12 pt size with single spacing.
ARTICLE TYPES
Regular Articles
Regular articles report original research on, or techniques for, studying the fundamental aspects include, but are not limited to: polymer synthesis, polymer processing and characterisation, polymer composite, bio-composite and nanocomposites materials, polymer hydrogels, polymer electrolytes, polymer membrane and separators, polymer coating and adhesives, natural and synthetics polymers nanostructured polymeric materials, and biomedical materials.
Special Issues
Special issues are collections of themed articles, sometimes arising from a conference, symposium or other notable event. Only full papers of the same standard as regular articles will be considered for publication in special issues. Articles submitted to the journal for inclusion in special issues are processed in the same manner as regular articles, but will typically involve a guest editor in addition to the normal editorial board.
Reviews
Review articles are intended to be comprehensive summaries of the state‐of‐the‐art in a particular aspect of polymer sciences and technologies.
COVER LETTER
All submissions must include a cover letter that includes:
(1) A confirmation of author representations that: the work described has not been published before; it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; no conflict of interests between the co-authors; and publication has been approved by all co-authors; and the responsible authorities at the institute(s) where the work has been carried out.
(2) A statement of the novelty and significance of the work and the relevance to the mission of the Journal of Polymer Science and Technology.
(3) Name, affiliation, specialisation and institutional email address of at least three potential reviewers.
FORMAT AND STYLE
The title of a manuscript should be concise, descriptive, with preferably not exceeding 15 words, and followed by name of author(s) and their affiliations including e-mail address. The submitted manuscript must follow this template, and using MS word processor. In general, the contents should comprise of Abstracts, Introduction, Experimental, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement and References. The manuscript must include an abstract, describing its main points within 300 words in the English language. The manuscript should be supplied with 3-5 keywords. All illustrations including figures, charts and graphs, should be referred to as a ‘Fig.’ and they should be numbered consecutively (1, 2, etc.). Figures should be embedded within the text soon after they are referred to. Fig. legends should be placed below the figure within the manuscript. All illustrations should be clearly drawn and reproduced in the form of high quality and provided in camera ready form. Each Table should be numbered consecutively (1, 2, etc.). Table captions should be placed above the table within the manuscript. The authors must follow the instructions given in the author guidelines for the papers to be published.
SCIENTIFIC STYLE
Please always use internationally accepted signs and symbols for units (SI units). Nomenclature: Insofar as possible, authors should use systematic names similar to those used by Chemical Abstract Service or IUPAC. Genus and species names should be in italics. Please use the standard mathematical notation for formulae, symbols etc.:
(1) Italic for single letters that denote mathematical constants, physical symbols, variables, and unknown quantities
(2) Roman/upright for numerals, operators, and punctuation, and commonly defined functions or abbreviations, e.g., cos, det, e or exp, lim, log, max, min, sin, tan, d (for derivative)
(3) Bold for vectors, tensors, and matrices.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND FUNDING INFORMATION
Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds, etc. should be placed in a separate section on the manuscripts. The names of funding organizations should be written in full.
COPYRIGHT
It is the author's responsibility to ensure that their submitted work does not infringe any existing copyright. Authors should obtain permission to reproduce or adapt copyrighted material and provide evidence of approval upon submitting the final version of a manuscript.
REFERENCES FORMAT
References citations in the text should be identified by numbers in square brackets following Vancouver References styles. All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all information in the reference. The references style adopted should be consistent throughout the manuscript. Always use the standard abbreviation of a journal’s name according to the ISSN List of Title Word Abbreviations
REVIEW PROCESS
Manuscripts will be reviewed by at least two independent referees. Decisions regarding the publication of a manuscript will be based on the editorial team recommendations. The manuscript will be evaluated based on its appropriateness for Journal of Polymer Science and Technology, contribution to the discipline, cogency of analysis, conceptual breadth, clarity of presentation and technical adequacy.
PROOFS
One set of proofs will be sent to the author(s) to be checked for errors and it is the responsibility of the author(s) to submit corrections to the Editorial Board.
