Abstract


 

This study aims to examine the recidivism tendency among juvenile residents in rehabilitation center. It also emphasizes recidivism tendency according to socio-demographics different. Psychopathy was determined as a recidivism predictor and thus, Psychopathy Checklist - Screening Version was used to measure recidivism risk. 104 male residents in one of the rehabilitation centre in Kuala Lumpur, involved in this study. Results show that the prevalence rates of psychopath were high. This indicates that those residents who scores high on psychopathy would have a high potential to relapse on delinquent and criminal behavior. Results also show that psychopathy for recidivism was differed by age, school status, type of offences, and frequencies on criminal behavior. Ineffective rehabilitation programs and the complexity of social environment are also discussed.
