POLA PERTUMBUHAN IKAN SEBAGAI PENGUKUR KUALITI EKOSISTEM SUNGAI (FISH GROWTH PATTERN AS QUALITY ASSESSMENT FOR RIVER ECOSYSTEM)

Abstrak

Ikan merupakan indikator yang sesuai digunakan untuk melihat tekanan pada ekosistem sungai kerana ia sangat sensitif terhadap perubahan di persekitarannya. Kualiti ekosistem sungai diukur melalui corak pola pertumbuhan ikan dengan menggunakan analisa panjang-berat. Kajian ini dilakukan untuk melihat pola pertumbuhan ikan di sungai serta melihat adaptasi spesies-spesies yang berbeza berdasarkan pada pola pertumbuhan. Persampelan telah dilakukan daripada 9–12 Ogos 2016 yang melibatkan empat sungai iaitu Sungai Kisap, Sungai Durian Perangin, Sungai Sireh, Sungai Telaga Tujuh dan menggunakan perenjat elektrik, sauk dan jala ikan. Ikan telah diawet di dalam 70% etanol serta pengukuran panjang-berat dan pengecaman telah dilakukan di makmal. Terdapat 8 spesies ikan yang berjaya diperolehi daripada empat buah sungai iaitu Oreochromis mossambicus, Devario regina, Clarias gariepinus, Channa striata, Carassius auratus auratus, Neolissochilus hendersoni, Acrossocheilus deauratus, Schistura Robertsi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa spesies dari ekosistem sungai menunjukkan satu pertumbuhan yang normal (isometrik). Spesies yang menunjukkan pertumbuhan yang hampir atau isometrik ialah Oreochromis mossambicus, Neolissochilus hendersoni dan Devario regina. Spesies-spesies tersebut diperolehi  dari sungai-sungai yang bersih (kelas I) dan boleh dijadikan sebagai indikator bagi ekosistem yang sihat.

Abstract

Fish is a good indicator to determine river health since they are very sensitive to any changes in its environment. River ecosystem is measured using fish-growth pattern i.e.: length-weight analysis. This study was conducted to determine fish growth patterns in river system and to examine different fish species adaptation based on length-weight analysis. Sampling was carried out from 9-12th August 2016 at four rivers, namely Sungai Kisap, Sungai Durian Perangin, Sungai Sireh, Sungai Telaga Tujuh using electric shocker, fish net and scoop net. Fish were preserved in 70% of ethanol. Identification of fish and the measurement had been taken in the laboratory. There are 8 species of fish were recorded from four rivers, namely Oreochromis mossambicus, Devario regina, Clarias gariepinus, Channa striata, Carassius auratus auratus, Neolissochilus hendersoni, Acrossocheilus deauratus, Schistura robertsi. Species from river ecosystem exhibits a normal growth pattern which approaching to 3 (isometric). Species that exhibits the growth approaching or isometric value to 3 are Oreochromis mossambicus, Neolissochilus hendersoni and Devario regina. These species obtained from form clean rivers (class I and can be used as an indicator of a healthy ecosystem.
