Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

ABSTRACTS
Include an abstract in English and Malay of 250-300 words.

KEYWORDS
Give 4-5 keywords.

NUMBER OF WORDS IN THE PAPER 
Prepare a length of 5000-7000 words.

NOTES
Footnotes are not recommended. If absolutely necessary, they should be kept to an absolute minimum and placed as end-notes which must be numbered consecutively.

REFERENCES

  • References should be listed in the end of the article in alphabetical order. Several references by the same author(s) must be in chronological order. A journal reference should comprise name(s), initial(s), year of publication, full title of article, title of the journal in italic, the volume number, issue number, the first and last page of the article, in the following order:
    Winzeler, R.L. 1983. The study of Malay magic. Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde 39(4): 435-458.
  • A book reference should comprise name(s), initial(s), year, full title in italic, place of publication and publisher, in the following order.
    Pringle, R. 1970. Rajahs and Rebels. London: MacMillan.
  • A book chapter reference should comprise names(s), initial(s), year, full title of the book chapter, In, name(s) of editor(s), ed. full title of edited book in italic, the first and last page of the book chapter, place of publication, publisher, in the following order:
    Wong Soak Koon. 1996. Jean Rhys’ Wide Sarggasso Sea: Colonial Interogations of the Bildungsroman. In Fadillah Merican et al. (ed.) A View of Our Own: Ethnocentric Perspectives in Literature: International Literature Conference in Conjunction with the 10 Anniversary of Fakulti Pengajian Bahasa, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 77-90.   • All references cited in the text must appear in the References.

APPENDIXES
Samples, questionnaires, technical notes, maps, illustrations, tables and other essential information should be presented in appendixes. Each appendix must be given a title. They are referred to in the text by their labels.

REFEREEING
All manuscripts will be reviewed by the Editorial Board and at least one independent reviewer. The decision regarding the publication of a manuscript is based on their recommendations.

NOTA
Nota kaki tidak digalakkan. Andainya diperlukan, gunakannya seminimum yang mungkin dan meletakkannya sebagai nota hujung di akhir karya, dengan dituliskan angka kesemuanya secara sistematik.

RUJUKAN

  • Semua rujukan mesti diletakkan di akhir karya menurut susunan berabjad. Rujukan kepada pengarang yang sama disusun mengikut kronologi.
  • Rujukan kepada rencana dalam jurnal harus mempunyai nama pengarang, initial, tahun penerbitan, judul lengkap rencana, judul jurnal berhuruf condong, bilangan jilid, bilangan isu dan halaman awal serta akhir rencana itu. Lihat contoh:

  • Rujukan kepada buku harus mempunyai nama pengarang, initial, tahun penerbitan, judul penuh berhuruf condong, tempat penerbitan, nama penerbit. Lihat contoh:

  • Rujukan kepada bab dalam buku harus mempunyai nama pengarang, initial, tahun penerbitan, tajuk lengkap bab yang dirujuk, nama editor, judul penuh buku dalam huruf condong, halaman pertama dan akhir daripada bab yang dirujuk, tempat penerbitan, dan nama penerbit. Lihat contohnya:

LAMPIRAN
Contoh, soal selidik, nota teknikal, peta, gambar, rajah, ilustrasi, daftar dan semua keterangan yang lain yang penting harus dinyatakan dalam Lampiran. Setiap lampiran itu harus diberikan judul yang boleh dirujuk dalam teks.

PEWASITAN
Semua manuskrip yang diterima akan diwasit sidang editor dan sekurang-kurangnya seorang penilai bebas. Keputusan untuk menerbitkannya bergantung kepada penilaian yang kami terima daripada mereka.
