ACROSS TIME: THE PURITY OF DODOL THROUGH TRADITION AND CULTURE
Abstract

Abstract
Dodol, one of the traditional foods synonymous with the culture of the Malay community in Malaysia, plays an important role in the country's culinary traditions and heritage. This study discusses the preparation of dodol in terms of the traditional ingredients used, cooking techniques, and its importance in certain events such as festivals and weddings. In addition, this study examines the cultural aspects behind dodol making, which often involve community collaboration and knowledge transfer from generation to generation. In the context of rapid globalization and urbanization, this study also examines the challenges faced in maintaining the authenticity of dodol as a sustainable cultural heritage. These include pressures in terms of commercialization and modernization that can result in changes to the original recipe and traditional preparation methods. Therefore, this study emphasizes initiatives taken to preserve dodol making through approaches such as culinary education, involvement of the younger generation, and participation in heritage food festivals. By maintaining and appreciating dodol as a unique symbol of cultural heritage, this study concludes that a concerted effort is needed to ensure that dodol remains relevant and appreciated in the context of modern Malaysian society.
