KELUNTURAN MINAT MEMBACA BAHAN BACAAN BERBENTUK FIZIKAL DALAM KALANGAN MURID TAHAP 2 SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN LUAR BANDAR (Decline of Interest in Reading Physically Formed Reading Materials among Rural National School Level 2 Students)

Abstract


Abstrak: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneroka dan mengenal pasti faktor-faktor kelunturan minat membaca bahan bacaan berbentuk fizikal dalam kalangan murid Tahap 2 sekolah kebangsaan luar bandar selepas pasca pandemik COVID-19. Wabak COVID-19 yang melanda seluruh dunia telah memberi kesan yang besar dalam sistem pendidikan negara, termasuk minat murid membaca bahan bacaan. Tiga objektif kajian yang hendak dicapai, iaitu (i) mengenal pasti faktor penyebab kelunturan minat membaca bahan berbentuk fizikal, (ii) mengenal pasti kesan yang timbul apabila berlaku kelunturan minat membaca bahan berbentuk fizikal ini dan (iii) mengenal pasti usaha-usaha yang dilakukan oleh guru bagi menangani masalah kelunturan minat membaca bahan berbentuk fizikal. Kaedah temu bual digunakan sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Seramai enam orang guru Bahasa Melayu Tahap 2 dipilih sebagai peserta kajian. Kajian ini dijalankan di dua buah sekolah kebangsaan luar bandar di Zon Gemencheh, iaitu Sekolah Kebangsaan A dan Sekolah Kebangsaan B. Data dianalisis secara naratif berdasarkan soalan temu bual yang dijalankan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa PdP dalam talian telah melunturkan minat murid untuk membaca bahan bacaan fizikal. Murid-murid tidak lagi berminat membaca bahan bacaan berbentuk fizikal. Sebaliknya, bahan bacaan digital telah mengambil tempat dan minat murid untuk membaca. Implikasi kajian ialah kelunturan minat murid membaca bahan fizikal membimbangkan para guru dan pelbagai usaha giat dijalankan bagi mengatasi masalah ini

Abstract: This study aims to explore and identify the factors of the fading interest in reading physical reading materials among Level 2 rural national school students after the post-COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 epidemic that has hit the whole world has had a big impact on the country including education system and student interest in reading materials. The three objectives of the study to be achieved, namely (i) identifying the factors causing the decline in interest in reading material in physical form, (ii) identifying the effects that arise when there is a decline in interest in reading material in physical form and (iii) identifying the efforts made by teachers to deal with the problem of fading interest in reading physical material. The interview method was used as a data collection tool. A total of six Malay Level 2 teachers were selected as study participants. This study was conducted in two rural national schools in the Gemencheh Zone, namely National School A and National School B. Data was analyzed narratively based on interview questions. The findings of the study show that online TnL has weakened students interest in reading physical reading materials. Students are no longer interested in reading physical reading materials. On the other hand, digital reading materials have taken the place and student interest in reading. The implication of the study is that the decline in student interest in reading physical materials worries teachers and various efforts are being made to overcome this problem.
