PENILAIAN KURIKULUM BAHASA MELAYU SEKOLAH RENDAH: IMPAK TERHADAP MINAT DAN PENCAPAIAN MURID (Evaluation of Primary School Malay Language Curriculum: Impact on Student Interest and Achievement)

Abstract


ABSTRAK: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menilai impak Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR) Bahasa Melayu terhadap minat murid dan keberkesanan pencapaian objektif kurikulum daripada perspektif guru. Kajian kualitatif berbentuk kajian kes ini melibatkan enam orang guru Bahasa Melayu dari lima buah sekolah rendah merentasi tiga daerah dalam Bahagian Miri, Sarawak, mewakili konteks bandar, separuh bandar, dan terpencil. Peserta dipilih menggunakan persampelan bertujuan berdasarkan kriteria pengalaman mengajar minimum lima tahun dan kelayakan akademik berkaitan. Data dikumpul melalui temu bual separa berstruktur dan pemerhatian bilik darjah, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik berpandukan Model CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) dengan tumpuan khusus kepada dimensi Produk. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa pendekatan hiburan pendidikan, integrasi teknologi maklumat dan komunikasi (TMK), dan pembelajaran sambil bermain berjaya meningkatkan minat dan penglibatan murid dengan penyertaan mencapai 100% dalam aktiviti tertentu. Walau bagaimanapun, kurikulum semasa menghadapi cabaran jelas dalam memenuhi keperluan murid berkemampuan rendah, terutamanya di sekolah terpencil, dengan keberkesanan keseluruhan hanya mencapai 70% dalam konteks tertentu. Objektif paling mencabar untuk dicapai merangkumi kemahiran lisan (mendengar dan bertutur), kemahiran berucap di hadapan umum, dan penghayatan sastera, mencerminkan jurang antara hasrat kurikulum dan realiti pelaksanaan bilik darjah. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahawa kejayaan pelaksanaan kurikulum Bahasa Melayu memerlukan pendekatan lebih inklusif melalui Modul Bimbingan Murid (MOBIM), latihan guru komprehensif, dan sokongan sistematik untuk memastikan keadilan pendidikan merentasi pelbagai konteks geografi dan tahap keupayaan murid, selaras dengan aspirasi Rancangan Pendidikan Malaysia 2026-2035.

ABSTRACT: This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Primary School Standard Curriculum (KSSR) for Malay Language on student interest and the effectiveness of achieving curriculum objectives from teachers' perspectives. This qualitative case study involved six Malay Language teachers from five primary schools across three districts in Miri Division, Sarawak, representing urban, semi-urban, and remote contexts. Participants were selected using purposive sampling based on criteria of minimum five years of teaching experience and relevant academic qualifications. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations, then analyzed using thematic analysis guided by the CIPP Model (Context, Input, Process, Product) with specific focus on the Product dimension. Findings show that edutainment approaches, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integration, and learning through play successfully enhanced student interest and engagement with participation reaching 100% in certain activities. However, the current curriculum faces significant challenges in meeting the needs of low-ability students, particularly in remote schools, with overall effectiveness reaching only 70% in certain contexts. The most challenging objectives to achieve include oral skills (listening and speaking), public speaking skills, and literary appreciation, reflecting a gap between curriculum aspirations and classroom implementation realities. This study concludes that successful implementation of the Malay Language curriculum requires a more inclusive approach through the Student Guidance Module (MOBIM), comprehensive teacher training, and systematic support to ensure educational equity across various geographical contexts and student ability levels, in alignment with the aspirations of the Malaysian Education Plan 2026-2035.
