MESEJ PERPADUAN DALAM BUKU TEKS BAHASA MALAYSIA TINGKATAN 4 DAN 5: ANALISIS TERHADAP PERIBAHASA MELAYU (The Social Unity Message on the Form 4 and 5 Malay Language Textbooks: Analysis Malay Proverbs)

Abstract


Abstrak: Artikel ini membincangkan tema-tema yang berkaitan perpaduan dalam peribahasa Melayu yang terkandung dalam buku teks tingkatan 4 dan 5. Peribahasa Melayu dianalisis menggunakan teknik bertema yang melibatkan tiga tahap. Pada tahap pertama melibatkan penyenaraian peribahasa yang terkandung dalam kedua-dua buku teks. Pada tahap kedua, pentafsiran makna peribahasa. Akhirnya, pengekodan tema dikenal pasti. Pentafsiran makna dan pengekodan ini dilakukan oleh tiga orang ahli akademik. Ia dilakukan secara bersama dalam mencapai persetujuan bersama tentang maksud dan kesesuaian tema bagi kesemua peribahasa Melayu yang dianalisis. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat empat tema utama iaitu adaptasi sosial, muafakat, jati diri, dan tanggungjawab. Kesemua peribahasa Melayu yang dianalisis memberi penekanan kepada kebersamaan dalam masyarakat termasuklah kepentingan keharmonian kehidupan. Hal ini bererti, pembelajaran peribahasa Melayu bukan sahaja mendidik pelajar tentang ketinggian pemikiran tamadun Melayu malah menjadi bahan pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang penting bagi memupuk perpaduan kaum. Oleh kerana jumlah peribahasa berkaitan perpaduan dalam buku teks Bahasa Malaysia tingkatan 4 dan 5 adalah sedikit, maka dicadangkan agar dibuat penambahan peribahasa dalam buku teks baru pada masa depan. Penggunaan kamus peribahasa Melayu digital pertama juga perlu diberi penekanan dalam penggubalan buku teks baru Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia.

Abstract: This article discusses emerging themes relating to social unity based on the Malay proverbs that were published in the Form 4 and 5 Malay Language textbooks. The Malay proverbs were analysed using thematic technique that involves three stages. Firstly, all the proverbs relating to social unity were listed and screened. Secondly, the interpretations of the meaning of the proverbs were carried out. Finally, the coding process was carried out to identify the themes. The interpretation and coding activities were carried out by three academicians. It was done together in order to reach a mutual agreement about the meaning and relevance of the themes. The findings show that there are four main themes identified namely, social adaptation, solidarity, self-esteem, and responsibility. Most proverbs emphasize the importance of solidarity in society includes the harmony of life. This means that learning the Malay proverb may be able to educate students about the Malay civilization. It also can be used essential for fostering racial unity in teaching and learning process. Due to the lack of proverbs relating to social-unity in the Malay Language textbooks for Form 4 and 5, there is a need to include more proverbs in the new Malay Language textbooks. The Malay proverb digital dictionary should also be given emphasis in the new textbooks.
