PERBEZAAN JANTINA DAN PENGALAMAN MENGAJAR GURU BAHASA MELAYU SEKOLAH JENIS KEBANGSAAN CINA TERHADAP PENGAJARAN PENDIDIKAN KESELAMATAN JALAN RAYA (Different of Gender and Teaching Experience Malay Language Teacher at National Type Chinese School’s in Teaching Road Safety Education)

Abstract


Abstrak: Kajian ini dijalankan untuk melihat kesediaan guru-guru Bahasa Melayu Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) daerah Batu Pahat terhadap pengajaran Pendidikan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (PKJR). Secara khusus, kajian ini bertujuan melihat perbezaan antara tahap kesediaan guru Bahasa Melayu dalam pengajaran PKJR dengan jantina dan pengalaman mengajar guru. Kesediaan guru diukur daripada tiga konstruk kajian, iaitu pengetahuan, kemahiran dan sikap guru Bahasa Melayu (SJKC) tersebut. Seramai 203 orang guru Bahasa Melayu yang mengajar di 36 buah SJKC di daerah Batu Pahat dijadikan responden kajian. Soal selidik digunakan sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik inferensi (ujian ANOVA) bagi melihat hubungan dan perbezaan pemboleh ubah kajian. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan antara tahap kesediaan guru dalam pengajaran PKJR terhadap aspek pengetahuan, kemahiran dan sikap dengan pengalaman mengajar, tetapi tidak dari aspek jantina guru. Implikasi kajian ialah tahap pengalaman mengajar penting dalam menyampaikan ilmu PKJR supaya murid-murid boleh menggunakan pengetahuan, kemahiran dan sikap positif ketika menggunakan jalan raya. Dengan cara ini, matlamat PKJR akan tercapai apabila rakyat Malaysia berhemah semasa menggunakan jalan raya.

Abstract: This study was conduct to examine the readiness of Malay Language teachers of National Type Chinese School’s (NTCC) in Batu Pahat District to the Teaching of Road Safety Education (TRSE). Specifically, this study aims to see the difference between the level of readiness of Malay language teachers in teaching TRSE with teaching experience and teacher gender. Thr readiness of teachers constructs were measured from three construct that is knowledge, skills and attitudes of Malay Language teachers. A sample of 203 Malay Language teachers from 36 NTCC Batu Pahat district were select to answer the questionnaire. Data were analyzed using inference statistics (ANOVA test) to see the relationship and differences of the study variables. The findings show that there is a significant difference between the level of teacher readiness in TRSE in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes with teaching experience, but no significant with the teachers gender. The implication of the study is that the level of teaching experience is important in imparting TRSE knowledge so that students can use knowledge, skills and positive attitudes when using the road. In this way, the goal of TRSE will be achieved when Malaysians are prudent when using the road.
