Tugasan Transkrib dalam Kalangan Pelajar Universiti pada Musim Pandemik Covid-19: Persepsi ‘Transcriber’

Abstract


Proses transkrib penting dalam kajian kualitatif dan merupakan langkah pertama dalam proses analisis data. Namun, kerja mentranskripsi audio sangat memenatkan. Maka, mengupah ‘transcriber’ adalah salah satu alternatif yang ada. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk meneroka sisi belakang tabir kerja-kerja transkrib audio temu bual di kalangan pelajar universiti. Empat peserta kajian dipilih menggunakan teknik persampelan bertujuan. Peserta kajian dijejak dengan menggunakan teknik bola salji. Data dikutip melalui temu bual secara bertulis menggunakan aplikasi WhatsApp dan Telegram. Dapatan menunjukkan peserta kajian mampu menaip 10 minit fail audio dalam tempoh sejam. Peserta kajian mampu menekuni kerja-kerja transkrib antara 15 minit ke 6 jam. Penyempurnaan satu fail audio sekitar tempoh sejam mampu disiapkan secepat dua hari dan mencecah tempoh tiga bulan bergantung kepada kesibukan tugasan sebagai pelajar dan masalah-masalah lain yang timbul. Selain itu, dapatan turut merungkai lima kekangan utama yang dihadapi peserta kajian, iaitu; suasana bising, audio tidak jelas, bebanan tugasan, sakit dan lupa ‘save’. Dari sudut upah pula, peserta kajian menganggap upah sebanyak RM 55/jam berbaloi.
