Author Guidelines
Journal of Building Performance (JBP) publishes quality manuscripts, in English or Bahasa Malaysia, in the area of building surveying and building performance evaluation related work and research. The authors of manuscript to be considered for publication are required to follow the guidelines given below. The editor reserves the right to exclude any manuscript that is not adhered to the following guidelines. All manuscripts published in JBP will be peer-reviewed.
Manuscripts must be submitted either in English or Bahasa Malaysia. Authors must provide authentic and unpublished work not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Manuscripts must be prepared in journal template and submitted via this editorial system.
The authors need to suggest two to four reviewers complete with their details and affiliation for the manuscript (JBP may designate other reviewers).
All manuscripts are subject to review by at least one anonymous referees before accepted for publication.
The manuscript should be typed on Arial 10 with single spacing.
The manuscript should have minimum 3,500 words.
An abstract of no more than 200 words should give a clear and concise overview of the manuscript and key finding of the paper. No literature should be cited.
The numbers of keywords is up to 5 only and should be placed in alphabetical order. Keywords must be relevant for indexing purposes.
All figures, tables and illustrations should be clear in black and white, and must be referred within the text. It should be placed as close as possible to the text that describe it for easy cross reference.
Where applicable, all acknowledgements should be mentioned at the end of the manuscript.
Electronics proofs will be sent to the corresponding author. At this stage, no changes will be made in the manuscript (except for minor clerical error).
Once published in JBP, the copyright of the manuscripts is automatically vested to the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The authors have the right to make use of the manuscripts elsewhere after publication without getting prior permission from the publisher, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as the original source of publication.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses Arial 10-point font and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
