Hubungan antara Kualiti Hidup dan Status Kesihatan Mental Ibu Tunggal B40 di Malaysia (The Relationship between Quality of Life and Mental Health Status of B40 Single Mothers in Malaysia)

Abstract


Ibu tunggal merupakan golongan yang mudah terjejas dari segi sosial dan ekonomi serta berisiko untuk menghadapi pelbagai masalah kesihatan mental dan fizikal. Ibu tunggal yang mempunyai anak merupakan golongan yang paling miskin di Malaysia. Cabaran seperti masalah kewangan, stigma masyarakat serta masalah sosial dan psikologi kerap dilaporkan di kalangan ibu tunggal B40. Kajian secara kuantitatif telah dijalankan ke atas 567 orang ibu tunggal di Malaysia pada tahun 2021 untuk menganalisa status kualiti hidup dan kesihatan mental mereka semasa pandemik COVID-19. Artikel ini akan menentukan hubungan antara kualiti hidup dan kesihatan mental ibu tunggal B40 di Malaysia. Sampel kajian telah dipilih secara persampelan purposif, dengan menetapkan kriteria inklusif dan ekslusif. Skala DASS-21 (Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale 21) dan THE SPHERE Quality of Life Scale telah digunakan bagi menguji konstruk kesihatan mental dan kualiti hidup. Analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahawa terdapat hubungan signifikan yang negatif antara kualiti hidup dan kesihatan mental (r = -0.265, p < 0.05) ibu tunggal B40. Ini menunjukkan bahawa semakin tinggi skor kualiti hidup responden, semakin rendah skor kesihatan mental. Ibu tunggal yang melaporkan simptom kemurungan, kebimbangan dan tekanan yang tinggi secara umumnya mempunyai tahap kauliti hidup yang lebih rendah. Hasil kajian akan memberi input kepada perancangan program-program bagi pemerkasaan ibu tunggal B40 di Malaysia bagi meningkatkan lagi tahap kualiti hidup mereka.
