CABARAN MEMBESARKAN ANAK-ANAK AUTISME DARIPADA PERSPEKTIF IBU (THE CHALLENGES OF NURTURING AUTISTIC CHILDREN FROM THE MOTHER’S PERSPECTIVE)

Abstract


Dewasa ini, prevalen kes Kecelaruan Spektrum Autisme (ASD) meningkat dari semasa ke semasa di seluruh dunia. Ibu bapa bagi kanak-kanak ASD menghadapi cabaran daripada pelbagai segi untuk membesarkan anak-anak ASD. Ibu bapa kanak-kanak ASD sering melaporkan tekanan yang lebih tinggi dalam keibubapaan berbanding ibu bapa kepada kanak-kanak normal atau kanak-kanak yang mempunyai kecacatan yang lain seperti Sindrom Down. Oleh itu, kajian ini dilaksanakan bagi meneroka cabaran yang dihadapi oleh golongan ibu kepada kanak-kanak ASD. Golongan ibu dipilih kerana mereka merupakan penjaga utama kanak-kanak ini dan meluangkan masa yang banyak untuk membesarkan mereka. Kajian ini dijalankan secara kualitatif, dengan melibatkan temu bual mendalam ke atas lima (5) orang responden di Selangor. Hasil analisis tematik yang dijalankan menunjukkan cabaran yang dihadapi oleh ibu adalah daripada aspek tingkah laku kanak-kanak ASD, kewangan dan penerimaan masyarakat. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa ibu-ibu kanak-kanak ASD menghadapi pelbagai cabaran rumit yang memerlukan sokongan semua pihak bagi menanganinya. Sokongan dan pemahaman yang tinggi diperlukan daripada pasangan, anak-anak yang normal, komuniti setempat dan kerajaan untuk meringankan kesulitan mereka. Oleh itu, hasil daripada kajian ini diharap dapat membantu pelbagai pihak untuk memahami apa yang dilalui oleh golongan ibu kanak-kanak ASD. Ia juga boleh menjadi panduan bagi merangka program sokongan dan intervensi kepada kanak-kanak ASD serta ibu bapa mereka.
