Kemahiran Pengurusan Stres dalam Kecerdasan Emosi dan Hubungannya dengan Kepuasan Hidup Remaja (Stress Management Skills in Emotional Intelligence and Its Association with Adolescents’ Life Satisfaction)

Abstract


Peringkat remaja merupakan peringkat yang penuh dengan cabaran dan stres. Kemahiran pengurusan stres bagi golongan ini amat penting untuk mencapai kualiti dan kepuasan hidup. Objektif utama kajian ini adalah mengkaji perkaitan antara kemahiran pengurusan stres dengan kepuasan hidup dalam kalangan pelajar sekolah menengah. Selain itu, kajian ini turut mengkaji perbezaan kemahiran pengurusan stres dan kepuasan hidup mengikut jantina. Kajian tinjauan ini melibatkan 1,067 orang responden yang terdiri daripada pelajar sekolah dari tingkatan satu hingga enam (13 hingga 18 tahun), sekitar Kota Kinabalu dan Kudat Sabah. Instrumen kajian yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah The Emotional Quotient Inventory Youth Version (EQ-i:YV) dan Cantril’s Vertical Visual-Analog Scale Ladder of Life Satisfaction yang telah diterjemahkan ke dalam Bahasa Melayu. Data dianalisis menggunakan ujian korelasi dan ujian-t sampel bebas. Hasil keputusan menunjukkan terdapat korelasi yang positif antara kemahiran pengurusan stres dengan kepuasan hidup dalam kalangan pelajar sekolah menengah. Sementara, keputusan analisis ujian-t sampel bebas pula menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan pengurusan stres dan kepuasan hidup mengikut jantina. Kajian ini membuktikan bahawa kemahiran pengurusan stres amat penting kerana ia berkait secara langsung dengan kepuasan hidup khususnya bagi golongan remaja atau generasi Z pada masa kini.
