Abstract


This research studied relationship between organizational contexts and quality of work life of team members and self managed work team. The subjects comprised of 420 members of self managed work team (93 teams) from a multinational manufacturing company. The unit of analysis was at individual and group level. Questionnaire used was adapted from Cohen Ledford and Spreitzer (1966) and Yeats and Hyten (1998.) Findings showed that organizational contexts have a positive influence on the quality of work life at individual and group level. The best predictor among the organizational contexts for quality of work life at individual level is incentives, while autonomy is the best predictor for quality of work life at group level. This means that incentives given play an important role in increasing the quality of work life of group members. While autonomy given plays an important role in increasing the quality of work life of the group as a whole.
