THE LEVEL OF MASTERY OF THE BASIC FARDU AIN AMONG THE INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES IN THE STATE OF PAHANG
Tahap Penguasaan Asas Fardu Ain dalam Kalangan Masyarakat Orang Asli di Negeri Pahang
Abstract
Based on the Orang Asli population census (OA) issued by JAKOA, there are 89,172 members of Orang Asli households throughout Pahang, with a total of 17,427 of them being Muslim. Despite embraced Islam, some still do not master the basic things of fard ain perfectly due to various problems. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the level of mastery of some essential fard ain matters among the indigenous Muslim community in the State of Pahang. This study is descriptive data in percentage, frequency, and average dominance. The study's findings show that the tested items, namely the practice of ablution, the recitation of prayer intention and the recitation during iktidal, are in the highest position of mastery. While the items of reading qunut prayer, iftitah prayer and tahiyat reading are the most not mastered by native people. The study concludes that the level of mastery of the basic fard ain of the indigenous community is good, but it requires continuous efforts to improve the teaching method so that it is easier to learn and more effective. This study gives implications for the relevant parties to increase the efforts of da'wah and understanding of Islam among the indigenous people, especially in the State of Pahang.
