THE CONCEPT OF LEARNING TAWHID IN SOCIETY IN THE SONG TOMBO ATI BY SUNAN BONANG

Konsep Pembelajaran Tauhid dalam Masyarakat Menerusi Lagu “Tombo Ati” Karya Sunan Bonang

Abstract

Sunan Bonang was one of the nine members of Wali Songo, known as the spreaders of Islam in Java around the 17th century. He was the son of Sunan Ampel, the elder brother of Sunan Drajat, and also the teacher of Sunan Kalijaga. He was renowned as the initiator of using art as a medium for dakwah (Islamic propagation). This research focuses on the lyrics of Tombo Ati by Sunan Bonang as a study of tawhid (the oneness of God). In this context, the author examines the impact of the lyrics of Tombo Ati by Sunan Bonang on strengthening aqidah (faith) within the community. In this study, the researcher employs the library research method, utilising various literature, including books, notes, and reports from previous research to collect data. The findings of the research are as follows: first, the lyrics of Tombo Ati serve as a socio-cultural medium that becomes an educational medium for Islam in the community; second, da’wah through art holds the values of religious teachings; third, the existence of the lyrics of Tombo Ati. As a cultural heritage of our ancestors, it ought to be preserved in society, particularly in Indonesia.
