PERCEPTION OF BUDDHIST WOMEN AND MUSLIM WOMEN TOWARDS INTERFAITH DIALOGUE: A STUDY IN KUALA LUMPUR
Persepsi Wanita Buddha dan Wanita Muslim Terhadap Dialog Agama: Kajian di Kuala Lumpur
Abstract
This study concerns the perceptions of Buddhist women and Muslim women in Kuala Lumpur towards interfaith dialogue. The objectives of this study are to measure the respondents' level of understanding related to interfaith dialogue, assess the respondents' attitudes towards interfaith dialogue, and gauge the respondents' practices related to interfaith dialogue. The study was conducted on 400 respondents, with 200 respondents from the Sasana Abhiwurdi Wardhana Association (PSAW) and another 200 respondents from the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM). The approach used in this study is both qualitative and quantitative. The instruments used are questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis is carried out descriptively and inferentially using Spearman correlation with the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows version 14.0. The findings show that the level of understanding and attitude of all respondents towards interfaith dialogue is satisfactory. The results indicate a relationship between understanding and the attitude of all respondents. This shows that the higher the respondents' level of understanding towards interfaith dialogue, the better their attitude towards interfaith dialogue.
