Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (*.doc/*.docx) document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a Times New Roman 12-point font for Malay and English manuscript or Traditional Arabic 16-point font for Arabic manuscript.
  • An abstract length not more than 300 words.
  • An additional article's title and abstract translated in English
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Editorial Policy

  1. All authors are invited to contribute their original manuscript to Al-Hikmah.
  2. Al-Hikmah welcomes any forms of manuscript contributions that are their directly related or not to the Islamic da’wah perspectives whether from the aspects of sociocultural, women and family, Arts, muallaf (converts), leadership, management, psychology, media, communication and technology and Islamic counselling.
  3. The accepted manuscripts will be assessed by the Editorial council and independent reviewer.
  4. Authors who are interested to produce an original manuscript are encouraged to send their manuscript to the Editor in Chief of Al-Hikmah via online filling-up a submission form provided by the al-Hikmah's journal website.

Publication Ethics

  1. The manuscript sent to the editorial must be original and has never been published before.
  2. The manuscript cannot be under the acceptance of any journals to be published.
  3. Authors need to be responsible to the productions of any illustrations, references, tables, figures etc. which are included in the writing of the manuscript from the replication elements and the truth from the original author’s copyright.
  4. All the submissions will be peer-reviewed (single blind) by the panel of experts associated with journals. Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, it will undergo language copy editing, typesetting, and reference validation in order to provide the highest publication quality possible.
  5. The journal will review all manuscripts for anonymity and may make changes if necessary. Manuscripts needing substantial changes will be returned to the authors.

MANUSCRIPT SPECIFICATIONS

General Guidelines

  1. All manuscripts sent must adhere to the specifications of the journal article publication. Please use the template here: Article Writing Format & Template.
  2. Manuscript must be typed written in the Microsoft Word (*.doc/*.docx) with A4 size papers.
  3. All the texts must be typed single-spaced (1.0pt); uses a Times New Roman 12-point font for Malay and English manuscript or Traditional Arabic 16-point font for Arabic manuscript; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  4. Abstract written cannot be more than 300 words.
  5. For a manuscript written in Malay or Arabic, an additional article's title and abstract in English must be accompanied.
  6. Word count must be at least 3,000 words and less than 6,000 words including abstracts and references.
  7. The in-text citations must follow the author-date system. 
  8. For every references used in the text must be mentioned in the reference list.
  9. The writings of the manuscript must adhere to the APA (American Psychological Association) writing guidelines.
  10. Manuscript should include:
    • Title of manuscript with English translation;
    • Full Name of authors, affiliation, address and email.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

The editorial board holds the copyright to the article published in the journal. However authors are allowed to retain the copyright of their papers, without restrictions. The authors may request permission to republish the article from the editor.
