Abstract
Sheikh Nazim al-Qubrusi was a Muslim Scholar and Figure of controversial cleric who had sparked the polemic of his Sufism ideology, which received attention among several Islamic Institutions in Malaysia, especially in the Wilayah Persekutuan and Kedah. He is said to have brought the Naqshbandiyya order from the Haqqani route, even as a Mursyid in that path. However, some of the scholars from the same tarekat were said to have rejected the title to him. This study seeks to examine the background of al-Qubrusi's da'wah in the world of the tarekat and the view of the another scholars towards him. This study also examines his ideology regarding his da'wah to the followers of his faith in most of the books written by him and his students. This study uses a qualitative study using a method of comparative analysis, content analysis, and historical analysis. The results of the study found that there were a portion of his teachings that contradicted the Islamic faith of Ahli Sunnah Waljamaah and many Scholars and Religious Institutions in this country had also issued a fatwa for the prohibition.
