ABSTRACT

Instilling knowledge and skills of entrepreneurship through hands on training programs or learning through the realization of authentic business activities have been postulated by many entrepreneurship experts. The main focus is in producing more graduates who are capable to become genuine entrepreneurs. In Malaysia, graduate entrepreneurship training programs have been implemented seriously since a decade ago by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Corporative Development and the Ministry of Higher Learning through several programs such as Graduate Basic Entrepreneurship Course, Graduate Entrepreneurship Training and Basic Entrepreneurship Culture. However, these programs will be more effective if university students are given the opportunity to conduct their own business on campus. This article discusses the potential prospect of business development managed by entrepreneur students on campus and the development of business incubator in the campus of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Research findings show that the business done by the students on campus are well-received. Nevertheless, only several types of business are in demand. This article also forwarded several suggestions that need to be undertaken by the university management to ensure the success of businesses owned by entrepreneur students.
