AKHLAQ AND MORAL DEVELOPMENT TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY
Pembangunan Akhlak dan Moral Ke Arah Masyarakat Lestari
Abstract
Islamic and Western scholarships have made much discussion about the importance of akhlaq and moral. According to most of the Muslim scholars, akhlaqis the righteous set of actions which precisely follow Islamic teachings. Meanwhile, moral values are code of conducts which are well recognized and accepted by a certain defined society. In the context of the Sustainable Communities’ establishment, morality and akhlaq development is required to be emphasized because it is an element in shaping the human capital. Therefore, the establishment of a sustainable society should be formed based on several aspects, including environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and social sustainability. From Islamic perspective, there are three main pillars acted as the core in the establishment of a sustainable society, which areaqidah, syariahand akhlaqand it should be appreciated by everybody. Through aqidah, everyone must be aware that the task of running this universe is a great form of trust by Allah SWT. Through syariah, the Maqasid Shariahprinciples should be empowered in order to implement their objectives which are the religion, soul, intellectual, ancestry, and also property conservations. It is thus believed to be able to help every human being to achieve the ultimate goal towards the well-being of the world and hereafter.
