TARBIYAH METHOD OF SAYYID MUHAMMAD ALI AL-SANUSI
Manhaj Tarbiah Sayyid Muhammad Ali Al-Sanusi
Abstract
Sayyid Muhammad Ali al-Sanusi is among the Muslim scholar on the 13 century that used tarekat as his medium of da’wah and tarbiyah. Through the method of tarbiah he had produced many ulama, fighters and Muslim leaders. However, some claimed that his method were deviated from the Qur’an and al-Sunnah. This article aims to examine his method of tarbiah in terms of authenticity based on the Qur’an and Sunnah. The subject matter of the article is analysed using content analysis approach.The study has proved that the tarbiah method of Sayyid Muhammad Ali al-Sanusi not only in line with the Qur’an and Sunnah teachings, but also succeded in bringing transformation on this knowledge and tarbiah. The study revealed that his method of tarbiah integrates betweenthe elements of burhaniah (text evidences), isyraqiah (spiritual lightning), obey to syeikh and always with him, guide the people to the way of Allah and doing jihad for His cause.
