LEVELS OF UNDERSTANDING, ACCEPTANCE, AND INTEGRATION OF CHINESE REVERTS TOWARDS MALAY CULTURE IN SELANGOR

Abstract
The society in Malaysia is still trapped by ethnic 'assabiyah' due to the policies and educational systems introduced by the British. Therefore, this descriptive survey study aims to identify the levels of understanding, acceptance, and integration of Chinese reverts towards Malay culture in the state of Selangor. Questionnaires were distributed to 408 Chinese reverts in Selangor. The study found that the mean value for the level of understanding of Chinese reverts towards Malay culture (mean = 2.85) is at a moderate level. Additionally, the mean value for the level of acceptance of Chinese reverts towards Malay culture in Selangor (mean = 2.75) is also at a moderate level. Meanwhile, the mean level of integration of Chinese reverts with Malay culture (mean = 2.80) is at a moderate level. These findings indicate that all levels show that Chinese reverts respond positively towards Malay culture in Selangor.
