PENDEKATAN STREET DAKWAH KEPADA BUKAN ISLAM DALAM KALANGAN PENDAKWAH NGO MUSLIM DI PULAU PINANG
Abstract
The approach of street dakwah activities to non-Muslims in Penang by Muslim NGO preachers is likely to attract the non-Muslims to reach out and understand Islamic teachings. However, Islam itself is seen as a religion that advocates violence and backward lifestyle that makes it difficult for the preaching work to be conveyed to them. Therefore, this study aims to examine the approach of street dakwah to the level of understanding of street dakwah to non-Muslims among Muslim NGO preachers in Penang. This study also examines the aspects of the street dakwah approach used and to recognise the preachers’ perception of street dakwah. This study uses quantitative method with survey design. Data are collected using questionnaires and analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23 to see the frequency, percentage and mean of each question item. This study is seen as contributing to a new field of street dakwah towards non-Muslims. The implications of this study can be useful to enhance the preparation of the preachers towards the specification of preaching activities carried out in particularly in street dakwah.
