IMPLEMENTATION OF TARBIYAT AL-RUHIYAH IN THE DA’WAH DIVISION, TERENGGANU DEPARTMENT OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS (JHEAT)

Abstract

Da’wah and tarbiyah must go hand in hand because the preacher is constantly exposed to two attractions. The attraction of faith always encourages doing good deeds. The attraction of lustful impulses and satanic temptations make a person love the world and lead to negligence, laziness, longing and procrastination. Tarbiyat al-ruhiyah is one of the crucial methods of da'wah for developing spiritual aspects. Therefore, every preacher needs a supply of tarbiyat al-ruhiyah for consistency and firmness in carrying out his responsibilities. Specifically, this study examines the implementation of tarbiyat al-ruhiyah in the work of da'wah in the da'wah division of Terengganu Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT). The objective of this study is to know the concept of tarbiyat al-ruhiyah according to the Islamic perspective and to study the implementation of tarbiyat al-ruhiyah in the da'wah section of JHEAT. The study used data collection methods through library research and semi-structured interviews. The results show several implementations of tarbiyat al-ruhiyah on JHEAT officers and staff. The implementation of tarbiyat al-ruhiyah applied in JHEAT is through the formation of morals, the formation of identity and the formation of leadership. These implementations can be detected primarily through the courses and seminars organized for JHEAT officers to strengthen the tarbiyat al-ruhiyah further. Among them are courses of spiritual strengthening, integrity, leadership and tafaqquh. Further study found that JHEAT in implementing tarbiyat al-ruhiyah faces challenges. Therefore, researchers suggest intensive the application of awareness among them continues.
