Abstract

Psychological disorder is a disturbance associated with cognitive and affective. Each individual is born into the world will experience growth of behavior, emotion, cognitive, and spiritual. However, when an individual is unable to tolerate with stress, all these development components will have a psychological disorder. Although students can be assumed as those who have the intellectual intelligence, emotional intelligence, and spiritual intelligence, but as human beings, there is among them who suffer from psychological disorders. Therefore, this paper is aimed to discuss the factors that affected psychological disorder among university students. In terms of methodology, this paper uses the data obtained through a descriptive research performed through the Client Information Form, and Bio-Psycho-Social Form towards 12 students who attend individual counseling as a client. They are selected by convenience sampling. Data from both forms are analysed descriptively to identify factors that are affecting psychological disorders among students. The result of the analytical analysis shows that there are two factors that cause the occurrence of psychological disorders among students, namely external and internal factors. The result of the analytical analysis also shows that there are three indicators of psychological disorder which can be identified by the counselors namely academic problems, no confidence, and family problems. These three indicators provide implications for counselors and institutions of higher education, especially in the context of the formulation of model of preventive counseling, development, remedial, crisis intervention, and consultations.
