Abstract

The Chinese population is a unique population. Among the uniqueness that stands out in the Chinese population is the existence of diversity in terms of dialect and religion. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the Chinese population in Malaysia, the diversity of religions they follow, and how they accept members who follow Islam. The data collected in this paper is secondary data obtained from documentation materials. Data were analyzed descriptively. The result of this paper found that the Chinese population is an important component in the demographic structure of Malaysia. They are a large population and make up about half of the Malay ethnic group in Malaysia. However, geographically, their distribution is uneven. They follow various religions. Most of them follow Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism or Traditional religions. There are also among those who follow Christianity or Islam, and there are also those who do not follow any religion. In terms of acceptance they have a high level of religious tolerance. They can live in a family of different religions, under one roof in peace without feeling suspicious of each other.
