SALAFI THOUGHT TRENDS IN MALAYSIA: SPOTLIGHT ON THE ROLE OF THE INTERNET IN THE CYBER WORLD
Aliran Pemikiran Salafi di Malaysia: Sorotan Terhadap Peranan Internet dalam Dunia Siber
Abstract
The internet is the most efficient medium for self-promotion, disseminating ideas, and conducting activities compared to other marketing media. The Salafi movement in Malaysia has fully utilized the internet to develop an understanding of Islamic jurisprudence and liberate it from the constraints of blind imitation. This movement now leads in Islamic cyberspace in Malaysia, similar to how reformist movements during the colonial era used media to awaken public consciousness. This article briefly explores the evolution of Salafi ideas and examines the role of the internet in promoting this movement in Malaysia.
