Abstract

The art of entertainment is part of the needs and instincts of human life. In the context of da'wah, entertainment is also considered necessary and is part of the wasilah (medium/tool/way) of da'wah. The Orang Asli (OA) community in Peninsular Malaysia is usually inseparable from their interest and fondness for elements of entertainment. Therefore, their interest and love for these elements of entertainment should be celebrated. Based on this fact, this paper tries to see the relevance and significance of entertainment art as a method of preaching to OA. The focus is on entertainment programs (especially the Islamic Arts Night or MKI) implemented by the Department of Preaching and Leadership Studies, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (JPDK, UKM) through the LAD program. The method used in this writing is based on written documents related to OA da'wah and also observation experience in the LAD program in several da'wah practice locations. The findings of the study show that alternative entertainment arts, which are Islamic entertainment arts such as nasyid, dikir barat, boria, pentomin are relevant, appropriate and acceptable to madu (OA).
