THE POSITION OF WOMAN AND THEIR ROLE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF AL-TARIQAH AL-ALIYAH QADIRIYYA AL-KASNAZANIYYA

Abstract

Sufism has played a significant role in Islamic history by offering spiritual solutions to various social challenges through its deep awareness and holistic application of Islamic principles. This study explores the philosophy and perspective of the Qadiriyya Al-Kasnazaniyya Sufi order on women and their status, particularly in response to Western and feminist movements in Arab and Islamic societies that advocate liberation from religious and societal norms. The researcher employed a descriptive-analytical method by examining the order’s literature and activities, as well as conducting interviews with the order’s leader and followers to gain insights directly from the source. The findings reveal that women occupy a highly esteemed position in Al-Kasnazani thought, reportedly three times greater than men, due to their entrusted roles in guidance, education, reform, support, and raising generations based on the Prophet Muhammad’s enlightened path. The Sufi disciple, male or female, is expected to possess strong moral and spiritual qualities to become a protector of the Prophet’s law, combat injustice and corruption, and serve as a guide to society. Furthermore, the order places great emphasis on safeguarding women from being objectified or misled by harmful influences, aiming to preserve their natural disposition. Their care spans religious, educational, and societal aspects, and includes promoting women's political and social rights. Ultimately, the Al-Kasnazaniyya vision affirms women’s leadership in shaping future generations in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet and his purified family (Ahl al-Bayt).
