A Systematic Review of Islamic Spiritual Psychotherapy Approach to Drug Addicts with Schizophrenia
Abstract
Mental health affects how individuals think, act, and interact with others. Good mental health contributes positively to one's overall well-being. However, in recent times, mental health issues have been on the rise due to various internal and external factors. This study focuses on spiritual psychotherapy approaches for drug addicts experiencing schizophrenia. Interventions aimed at treating and preventing schizophrenia among drug addicts have not yet reached their full potential. Therefore, this study aims to identify the most effective spiritual psychotherapy approach for the recovery of mental health issues related to schizophrenia among drug addicts. The study employs qualitative research methods with a content analysis design. Data were obtained through previous studies randomly selected from Google Scholar and Scopus databases. The findings reveal that the most effective spiritual psychotherapy treatments for schizophrenia among drug addicts are zikir, listening to Quranic verses, and reading Quranic verses. This study highlights the importance of a spiritual or holistic approach in treating schizophrenia. It also recommends further research to develop a comprehensive model for the prevention and intervention of schizophrenia, which would positively impact the spiritual well-being of patients.
